• Oxymetazoline hydrochloride (0.05%) – May cause nasal dryness, burning, sneezing, and rebound congestion if used for more than 3 days.
• Nasal dryness or irritation, sneezing, and temporary stinging.
• Rebound congestion with prolonged use. Avoid using for more than 3 days.

• Afrin (oxymetazoline) is a nasal decongestant that works by constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages, providing quick relief from congestion. However, it should not be used for more than 3 days, as it can cause rebound congestion.
• Flonase (fluticasone) is a corticosteroid nasal spray that reduces inflammation to relieve allergy symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, and runny nose. It takes longer to work, often requiring a few days for full effect, but it is safe for long-term use.

Afrin provides rapid, short-term relief, while Flonase is better for long-term management of allergies.

The recommended dose for adults and children 6 years and older is 10 mg once daily. It provides 24-hour relief from allergy symptoms. Do not exceed more than 10 mg in a 24-hour period unless directed by a healthcare provider.
